Introduction to Tampons

Tampons are a very discreet form of protection. You hardly feel you’re wearing one, and you can continue to do all the usual activities you do (even swimming) when you have your period.

Made of compact absorbent material and worn inside the vagina, tampons absorb menstrual fluid and are designed to adapt to your body shape so they provide maximum protection and comfort.

It might take a while for you to be totally comfortable with using a tampon. But don’t fret, alternate between pads and tampons till you feel confident and soon it’ll be a breeze.

How to use a Tampon

Here’s a little secret if you’re a first time tampon user. It’s perfectly fine not to get it right when you first try. But don’t worry; we’re going to talk you through it step by step.

You might have noticed we made our tampons slim with a slender tip. That’s because we wanted them to be comfortable and easy to use. The wrappers come in funky colors so they’re easy to find in your bag. The twist-open wrapper design also makes it super fast to remove.

Kotex® Tampons are easy to use; the trick is to be relaxed, especially if you’re a first timer. Let’s begin.

First, wash your hands before and after inserting a tampon. Hold the tampon at the end where the cord is positioned and get yourself into a comfortable position (e.g. stand with one foot on the edge of a toilet bowl or bath tub).

Next, stay relaxed, otherwise muscles around the vagina will tighten and make insertion difficult. Slant the tampon towards your lower back and gently push it in with your index finger as far as it will go, leaving the cord outside. You see, there’s nothing to it.

Removing a Tampon

To remove, pull the string at the same angle at which the tampon was inserted. Can’t find the string? Just get in a squatting position and gently reach for it with your fingers.

If the tampon has been inserted correctly, you will barely be able to feel it. However, if it has been inserted improperly, you may feel pressure or discomfort. Simply relax and push the tampon in further, or remove it and try again.
