Choosing the right product

Having your menses is a natural thing for a woman. It should not stop you from wearing the clothes you want or doing the stuff you have been doing all this time. Some really simple things can make things easier for you during this time of the month.

Here are some tips:

Sanitary
Sanitary Pads
Sanitary pads are cotton pads, with strips or adhesives under them so they can be readily applied by sticking them on your underwear. They vary in their thickness. Some may have wings to protect your underwear from leakage from the sides. Others may be a little longer to provide better protection at the back against staining.

Choosing the right pad

Take note of your size, body shape and the heaviness of your flow. Choose a sanitary pad that fits you well.

Thickness

A regular maxi has the right thickness for heavy flow. For some, a thinner pad with good absorbency may do for heavy days. Some girls like thinner pads because it feels more comfortable. Choose a pad that feels comfortable to you.

Wings or no wings

Wings can help prevent blood from leaking to your underwear. During heavy flow days or when you are planning for that outdoor activity, you can wear pads with wings.

When shopping for sanitary pads, you can vary the kind of pads you buy. You can change the type of pad you use depending on your menstrual flow, length of your menses and the type of activities you will be doing during your period.

Cover material

Cover material. Pads are sold with either a cotton cover or net/weave cover. Some girls prefer the extra softness and comfort that come from a cottony cover whereas others prefer the drier feeling you get from a net cover. The choice is yours!

Sanitary
Liners
A liner is a product designed to helpyou feel cleaner, fresher and drier any time of the month and any time of the day or night. It is generally thinner and smaller in size than a full size feminine pad. Liners are great to wear as backup protection when you have your period and are also great for absorbing wetness and protecting your panties from normal discharge, perspiration, small leaks of urine and unexpected menstrual flow.

Sanitary
Liners
Tampons are made of cotton just like your pads. The cotton is pressed together to become slim tubes. Unlike pads, tampons are inserted into your vagina during heavy or moderate menses. This may be a little tricky for first time users. Follow package instructions properly and this should make it easier the next time.
